but i hear it’s recessive… or that it skips a generation, which makes sense because my grandmother was the one with red hair. But all my sisters have either red, or redish tint to their hair…. does that mean all of our kids will come out with red hair?? Cuz that would be legit! (: My nephew is only 1 1/2 and still has some strawberry-blonde fuzz… *fingers crossed for him*Red hair is caused by passing on two copies of the MCR1 gene. If you have a copy, and your partner has a copy, there is a likelihood that you’ll pass on two copies, and get a redhead. I’m a redhead, I have two copies… my husband has a great-uncle with redhair, which means he has one copy. It all depends… the two copies mutate a gene on the 16th chromosome and cause the gene variant which is red hair. It doesn’t exactly skip around… there is an actual process. If you have natural red hair, you have a greater risk of having a redhead. If there aren’t any redheads in your family, then you may not have the variant of MCR1 necessary.
I am 85% sure we’ll be popping out redheads.
