Book Blogger Hop Question
”Summer is coming quickly - what 2011 summer release are you are most looking forward to?”
See, for me this question is awkward as I don’t “die” in excitement for book releases. In fact, most times I have no idea what is coming out. I read a lot of books that have been out for hundreds of thousands of years - I just...

LISTEN THE FUCK UP!: Kids With High IQs Grow Up to... →
listenthefuckup:
As a child’s IQ rises, his taste for meat in adulthood declines, a new study suggests.
British researchers have found that children’s IQ predicts their likelihood of becoming vegetarians as young adults — lowering their risk for cardiovascular disease in the process. The finding could explain…

Movie Review: African Cats
Movie Review: African Cats
If you know anything about me, you know that I love cats. I am insanely jealous of John Fulton and Must Love Cats for that very reason. More particularly - in addition to house cats (like my babies) - I love cheetahs and my favorite is the Cincinnati Zoo’s Cheetah Encounter star, Tommy T.
So it was no surprise when I decided we’d see Disney’s African...

Book Review: Save Your Marriage in Five Minutes A...
Save Your Marriage in Five Minutes A Day by Bonnie Jacobson PhD
Michael & I aren’t married yet but I’m a bit obsessed with happy marriage materials. While I don’t think anyone should stay in a miserable, dead-end relationship, I’m not someone who believes in divorce. I know, I know - but I believe forever is truly for forever.
The premise of this book is that the...

Weather - Cincinnati
Dear Cincinnati, your weather forecast sucks. So much for doing from some land with sunshine this week after last week’s crappy rain. Make it stop rainy at some point please.

Inspiring Quote of the Day
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain (via Dumb Little Man Tips)

Book Blogger Hop Question
This week’s question comes from Christina who blogs atThe Paperback Princesses. She asks:
”If you find a book you love, do you hunt down other books by the same author?”
I want to say both yes and no. I read such a diverse world of genres that hunting down books by the same author doesn’t really matter as much. For...

Awesome Pants - Literally
Pants never fit me. Not that I’ve ever been slight or the “normal” proportions for my height or anything but pants have never fit - not even plus size pants. There will always be something off with them. Generally, the clothing industry feels that for my hips to be the size they are, my waist must be about 3 - 4 inches larger than it is. Not the case for me, thus always causing...

Parenting
Contrary to what they sometimes believe, my parents pretty much did everything right in parenting. I’m sure there were some slip-ups here and there but my memory has missed them. That being said, I can’t help but notice how little my parents did in accordance with “proper parenting.”
I had a TV in my room and - later - a video game console. We rarely ate at a table as a...

Music Daily: "Daisy" by Brand New
Daisy by Brand New
While I’m not a brandnew stalker like some that I know (and some that - well, every person to ever go to a brandnew concert knows…), I’ve seen this band live much more than any rational person. We’re at a few states now that we’ve seen them in, every venue that matters in NYC, a few in Long Island, and a college shithole or two. I love this band....

Mixtape Memories
It’s funny how music can bring back to a single moment in time. Certain songs, I can place to moments or even non-important times in my life. A great example is “Little Bit” by Lykke Li. I rationally recall that song as being one of “those” songs when Michael and I were sorta dating in New York during the spring - right before he moved. A few notes of the song take me...

Writing
In the car yesterday, Michael & I got talking about writing. Not just writing in general but my writing. He concluded that since I read so vehemently and can write so quickly (at the freelance position I was with for 2.5 years, I could bust out 650 words in under 10 minutes sometimes depending on content), that I had to be a good writer.
In my head, this...

Itunes Genius Playlists
I’ve likely posted about this before but Itunes Genius playlists really do quite the amazing job of selecting songs.
Take this playlist based off of Paper Boats by Nada Surf. The song itself has a demur, peaceful quality to it - just like the other songs on this playlist. Even the tracks that are a bit bolder fit in nicely with this order. I love this playlist.
Another great example...

New Music Purchases
When I’m a bit depressed or in a funk, I tend to purchase Amazon or Itunes gift cards with the intention of purchasing music. Yesterday, I did just that and got the following:
Yuck’s Yuck
The Mountain Goats’ All Eternals Deck
TV On the Radio’s Nine Types of Light
Broken Bells’ Meyrin Fields EP
The 99 Essential Spring Classics
The 99 Essential Relaxing...
