Solid New Year’s look for er, next year?
2010 Year End Survey
I’ve been doing this particular year end for a long time (geez, since LJ days even!) and have become quite the fan, as you can see from last year’s.
1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
Spent the holidays not at “home,” visited a few places, etc.
2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I kept some, I...

Hope everyone is having a great and hopeful New Year’s Eve.
I’m just hoping for the best, just hoping nothing happens.

Book Review: Cooking Yourself Thin
Cooking Yourself Thin: Skinny Meals You Can Make In Minute from Lifetime Television
Pros: Quick cookbook read
Nutritious recipes
Seemingly easy
Cons: Reversed calorie counts
Too many ingredients
A bit too cute
Review: Cooking Yourself Thin was the first book I read on my brand new Nook Color, taken out from the Ohio E-Book Library. This resource is...

Reduce, Recycle, Make More Waste Than The Start?
I’m not quite sure how it happens but every time I aim to reuse something, it ends up causing more waste in the first place. I suppose I should be more picky in that which I attempt to reuse; however, that doesn’t change the consistency of increasin waste even when I make less daft decisions. Logical reductions in waste comsumption don’t occur in Cincinnati either.
For example,...

Blog Layouts
I know very few people cared and even fewer likely noticed but I changed my blog layout from this:
To this:
I felt like things needed a little bit of a change but I’m still not entirely sold.
Thoughts?
Nook Color: Initial Thoughts
As of now, I’ve had my Nook Color from Barnes and Nobles for just shy of 72 hours. A few initial thoughts:
1. I Love B&N Magazines, PASSIONATELY hate all others: As an avid magazine lover, I read a lot of magazines and the ones I have previewed from the B&N store are great! However, all of my existing digital subscriptions are, well, shit on the Nook. In PDF form, they...

New Year's Resolutions 2011
Last year, I made a handful of modest resolutions. Loose weight (I lost at least 25 pounds - not enough but something), blog more (I’m trying, I’m trying!), photograph more (this has fallen a bit to the wayside, unfortunately), get a new job (done! done! done!), read more (epic fail - less websites count) and fight less (can I have two epic fails?).
For 2011, I propose the...
Five Things I "Can't" Live Without
Ah insomnia: I would be so okay if you were not here with me. That being said, I’, obsessed with the Five Things I Can’t Live Without feature over at Acute Designs. Lots of great answers, perspective and inspiration going on over there. I highly recommend checking it out if you have the time but until then, be sure to check out my five.

ARGH - Men!
Someone please explain to me why men have no consideration for anyone but themselves and why it is impossible to talk and end an argument. Why is it so much more preferable to not say a word, annoy the person you’re with to all fuck, make them miserable for the whole day, then night, then end something when you realize nothing has been bothering you because you forgot you were fighting...

Vacations From Work: Earned, Deserved or Given?
I posted the above Facebook status and something similiar on Twitter yesterday. To be quite frank, it pissed off a good bunch of my friends. Lots of diplomatic DM’s, comments and a few messages. I’m still not sure why but here are my thoughts:
Very few people “earn” their vacation. I look at my father, who has a physical job, who frequently gets calls at 1AM to come in,...

Christmas?
This year, I’m not in the holiday spirit (I think). I’m not heading home for the holidays for the first Christmas in 24 years of my life. Holidays have never been a big deal in my family because we always like one another. We don’t need to have a holiday to pretend. I talk to my mother at least an hour a day. Every day. Because I want to, not because I’m supposed...

Christmas List (Kinda)
Gee, this is perhaps late and mostly useless (I’m 24: I don’t get Christmas gifts anymore) but in a dream world, I’d love the following.
1. To see my parents for Christmas. This one isn’t going to happen and is really the only thing I want but … yeah.
2. Kevin Devine circa 2007 t-shirts. Of course, the dream is a Kevin Devine hoodie.
3. A customized...

And people wonder why I say Cincinnati has fair weather football fans. Perhaps a more fitting phrase is fair weather news stations?
You can’t just put it as a footnote in your sports section? No, your “historically bad” team’s failure is a front page news alert? How messed up Cincinnati.
Starbucks, Coffee & Quality of Life
People say that Starbucks is crazy expensive and it makes me want to punch them. Square in the jaw. A few times. Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds - anywhere you buy an expensive, espreso shot based beverage, topped with syrup and frosting and dollops of this and that - i will be expensive. You’re paying for stuff. Imagine that - paying for what you are buying. Coffee at Starbucks is...

Jets Game
This Jets game is slaying me. Absolutely slaying me. When we win this game, we’ll have seed. “Seed” hasn’t looked like a possibility for a Jets team in … um …. ever. The Patriots look for seed as an annual Christmas bonus.
Fuck this rich bitch team shit and get it together Jets!

Funny Story: Kevin Devine Shitshow
Funny story time: I bought this shirt on a boat, drunk out of my mind in the New York Sound on Long Island Teas and cheap beer. I wanted the “Your Apartment Can’t Talk…” shirt but they were out or maybe just out of Tania sized shirts.
The funny story is as follows. On this day, I was wearing a white shirt. Heather & I were on the wrong side of Manhattan isle...
Dear Weatherman
Are you sure that this really how you feel? I mean, I know it’s December and all but hey - I was wearing a tank top yesterday.
